Description

Aircraft oxygen delivery systems come in three main types: continuous flow, diluter demand, and pressure demand. Each type is designed to meet specific altitude and oxygen conservation requirements.

Nasal cannulas and oral-nasal re-breather masks are commonly used for passengers and crew members at different altitudes, providing adequate oxygen supply. Quick-don masks are designed for emergencies and ensure quick and unimpeded access for flight deck crew members.

Airline drop-down units, also known as “Dixie Cup Masks,” can be safely worn at altitudes up to 40,000 feet during emergencies. They use phase dilution technology to optimize oxygen supply by delivering a mixture of 100% oxygen and cabin air into the mask.
